Dream Cricket article.
New York, America - A team of West Indies Cricket Legends, spearheaded by the legendary Sir Garfield Sobers, will be heading to New York to attend a star-studded dinner reception and to play two T20 games.
Some of the other high-profile names who are part of this event include Deryck Murray, Gus Logie, Daren Ganga, Shivnarine Chanderpaul Gordon Greenidge, Carl Hooper, Courtney Walsh, Desmond Haynes and Richie Richardson.
A banquet with the legends will be held at the Antun’s Banquet Hall on Springfield Blvd in Queens. This event will take place on Friday, July 31, at 9 PM.
The legends will take on a New York All-Star XI in two T20 games on Saturday, August 1 and Sunday, August 2. Former West Indies great, Gordon Greenidge is spearheading the effort to bring the legends to New York.
The games will be played at Idlewild Park at 223 Street and 148 Avenue in Queens, New York 11413. There will be two other games starting at the earlier time at 10 am and at the same venue. These games will be between a New York Under 23 versus a Regional Under 23 and a South Asian eleven versus a West Indies eleven.
Promoter Pooran Ramnanan said that he is asking the various cricket leagues in the Tri-State area to suspend their schedules for the weekend, so that the members and fans can come out and enjoy a fabulous weekend of cricket.
Pooran also noted that the legends will take part in a coaching exercise with young players from the New York Public Schools Athletic League. It is expected that the legends games will create opportunities for the schools to mix with the stars.

Guyana has to do something SPECIAL for this Son of the Soil. Yes, we have already named a street in Georgetown after him, but I'm advocating more; maybe a special series of games to his honour. Also a high National Award, as well.
