The early declaration shows a kind of disdain for West Indies batting. If by some miracle , West Indies surprise them and win this match , the Australian captain is going to face much fire ! They will ask him : " why did he declare so early ?" We believe he is thinking of the 5th day on the beach somewhere . He is expecting to run through West Indies batting in just another day !

I thought it was a great move by Clarke. It's why we all begrudingly love the Aussies. They play positive, aggressive cricket.

by way of general info and commentary I note that 392 in a fourth innings of a test match is tough sledding for any side historically::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::
the record for a fourth innings is what west indies accomplished against the Oz of some years ago..Ricky Pontings' side....400+, less than 50 more than 392. in all of test cricket 400 has been passed just a few times in search of a win. the fourth innings on the whole is the most difficult and least productive of the 4 innings in a match
392, more than enuff usually for any side in the circumstances, see much more than enuff for this west indies batting side, without disdain.
in fact had Clarke gone on he would likely have been accused of overkill and scared of miracles..of old west indian shadows

WI don't have the batting to make that score in the 4th innings of a test.
