Hampshire’s bowlers will face the unenviable task of attempting to harness the unstoppable Gayle Force tonight.
West Indies batsman Chris Gayle will be in the Somerset ranks for Hampshire’s trip to Taunton in the Natwest T20 Blast.
And the Jamaican is fresh from an extraordinary 151 not out – from just 62 balls – last weekend.
Gayle hammered 15 sixes and 10 fours but was still on the losing side as Kent sealed victory by three runs.
But Hampshire’s Chris Wood admits he is relishing the challenge of playing against one of world cricket’s genuine superstars.
Wood said: ‘You’ve got to look forward to it.
‘If you don’t, I think you would be a bit worried.
‘You always want to play against the best players in the world and at the moment, he is dominating world t20 cricket.

The took a spanking at the hands of Gayle, ketch. Gayle finished with 85 not out from 49 balls. Slow going by his standards but more than enough to guide Somerset to victory. Wood bowled 3 overs for 35. Willow for wood, indeed. On the plus side, Fidel Edwards bowled well.
