Mapoui and DownUnda recently alluded to New Zealand's poor Test record away from home which caused me to do some digging around. What I found was eye-opening.

Since January 1, 2010, no team has won 10 Test matches away from home. England and South Africa lead the way with 9 Test wins each. Australia and Pakistan have 8.

South Africa are the only team with a winning away record (9 wins, 1 loss, 7 draws). They are the outlier. They are far superior to all other Test teams when playing outside home comforts. Every other team has a losing record.

The mighty Australia have actually lost more matches away from home over this period than West Indies. Australia have won 33% of their 24 away Test matches. Conversely, West Indies have won 39% of their 23 Test matches at home.

The numbers over the last 2 years reveal similar patterns. No team has won more than 2 Test matches away. Australia have won 25% of their games with a record of 2 wins, 4 losses and 2 draws. Over this same period, West Indies have won 50% of their home matches with 4 wins, 3 losses and 1 draw.

Australia's batting average at home since 2010 is 40.65 and dips down to 32.80 away. West Indies home batting average is 30.21.

The take away from all of this is that winning Test matches - let alone series - away from home is incredibly tough. Odds dictate that West Indies should not be counted out against Australia. It is also worth keeping in mind that they just held England - a team with the second best away record since 2010 - to a series draw.

I think Oz beats west indies handily this time.  I expect no Oz batting collapse..while west indies batting has weakened decisively

the thing about shive is that he hid west indies batting weakness. he had a tremendous reputation and while he was still there that loomed as some runs in itself, and the respect opposition showed him, what they expected from him/west indies batting so on.  all that altered the batting expectations in west indies favour.

now that he is gone he takes that with him and exposes numbers 2 and 6 to be threadbare west indies batting positions in the order. #2 can be improved by Lendl Simmo. but they wont pik him..even #6 would be a lot more secure if they put him there

Paint..ok

Chandri...whatever we get ::confused::

Bravo...if finally he matures and scores powerfully, consistently

Samuels...against the Oz! oh man! whatever we get

Blackwood...did well against the english.  he wont get as many chances against the Oz.  they will take their catches

Hope....I dont know.  I would pik Dowrich and tell him he is a batsman..forget keeping.

this batting is hopeless.  I would not be sooprised to see at least 2 west indian totals below 200

still I maintain that west indies have weakened significantly in the batting.

west indies batting seem truly weak.  the only one we have with the consistency of attitude and results is Paint. and he can be defeated for experience yet.

Chandri is weak...Samules and Lil Bravo are enigmatic and Blackwood has to mature seriously quikcly for his scoring to matter against the Oz in this line up.

who the hell bats at?

it hardly matters between Hope and Dowrich. we will know by the end of the series.

what the hell can be done to improve the batting?

there are just 4 who can be considered batsmen with test experience..and we can see who they are.  my word!  have never see a west indian batting line up this weak

it would have been nice if we could now lean on Ramdin for runs. his experience is now crucial.  he must score well all the  way through to ensure competitive totals

Perhaps the most perplexing aspect of AT&T Stadium, otherwise known as “Jerry World,” is the glare from the sun that bursts through the windows and shines directly onto the field. Time and time again the glare has impacted players’ visibility during games, yet Jerry Jones refuses to make any changes to account for the sun.

Rather than install curtains, Jones has previously said he feels it’s a home-field advantage to have that type of stadium factor impacting games. Well, the glare ended up benefitting the Chiefs early into Thursday’s Thanksgiving game, as a pass from Dak Prescott to George Pickens fell incomplete, at least in part due to the impact of the sun’s glare.

SerenaThis batting performance by the West Indies in the second innings blew me away. I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team. Let us hope that this effort by West Indies batsmen would not be a one-off performance, but will be the beginning of a renewed effort to improve the performances of the team, going forward.(13.10.2025, 09:28)(09:28)0

"As a competitor, you want to be the starter. But I prepare to be the starter, I know I'm a starter in this league.
