Guyana already has the 4th highest suicide rate in the world. If Shiv doesn't make runs in this 3rd test, and is forced to retire, I estimate about 500,000 more Guyanese suicides by next week Wednesday.

wat is dat..a shot or a dig ::confused:: ::confused:: ::confused::
how do you turn morbidity into morbidity. it is morbidity itself from conception to expression as a writen post..and it did not begin in my mind, nor expressed in combination between my hand and the other parts of my body, that would be required to produce that whole...the thread itself.
if one had in mind the production of a jocularity based in suicide ..that seemingly would be a seriously sort of side stepped sense of humor
my mere question, in honest concern..not to slide deeper into the initial morbidity.. was of the content of that morbidity, of what it is contained..in that if Guyana's rate is as high as reported and given Guyana's small population..if one massive and aberrant event, perpetrated by forriners, and indeed counted by forriners who tabulate such trends as national suicide lists the world over...are perhaps doing even more ill to Guyana?
Jonestown took place in Guyana by the ill-advised permission of the Forbes Burnham government, given to an extremely fanatical religious organization to set up shop in BG.
I mean Forbes was loathe to allow west indians to migrate to Guyana.... but he allowed at least a thousand Americans to go into the Guyanan bushes to leave what must be a severely traumatic experience in the emotional make-up of Guyanans...an experience that cane be doing no good to Guyanans..and even further afield to the whole english speaking west indies...

perhaps if the original post was not prefaced by this....a jocular intent would have been noticed
that is real and nothing to laff at under any circumstances.

No, that line was not a "dig" at you.
Emotional Trinis killing themselves over Shiv breaking a record, or Guyanese doing the same if he doesn't, is funny.
Your question, though, delved into the issue of actual global suicide rates, which is sad and tragic.
It reminds me of something Sartre once said; he said all humour is violence, that's why we bare fangs when smiling.
True, but also the reality of suicide rates would have gone unnoticed.

he was right. humor is picong by another name. dat is for ketchim.
everything is relative to the content of life. there aint much to laff about in dat although humans do laff...and exactly like Sarte said. dat is a major achievement given dis life I think.
yet it might pay to see if there is more to lafter than just that. I tried..Paul Mooney, Richard Pryor..Chris Rock...even the lesser guys. I could find no less...or no more.
but I am jess me..no great looker..or seeker.. for sure

The highest rates in South America and at one point (2010, 2011?), the highest in the world. People say it's due to poverty, Christian guilt and stuff like that, but I bet it's also the chemicals used by farmers that are causing depression as well:

I know in the early 2000s a lot of microbiology departments in Trinidad had abnormally high rates of cancers and suicide, largely because of the poor ventilation systems and all the chemicals being used and tested.

I had some training and my first real job in agriculture in Trinidad but at that time I did not think any thing much wrong with chemicals. I quickly came to see how wrong I was.
the same basis I criticized the medical establishment yesterday in the west indian cancer post is the same principle here. there is a hell of a lot more going on with everything than the popular conception of them.
we have to question everything that comes out of the developed world....EVERYTHING, COMPREHENSIVELY... and this while we use and operate on and in ways we know to be safe...incorporating developed principles only when we have proved them beyond any doubt at all.
but that is not what west indian elites do. they incorporate fully whatever they are told to do by washington.
