first things first..the well being of the players.. their physical and emotional states, incentives and responsibilities..the creation of a situation at the top, and a an open road to the top, that makes it worth the while of our talented young men..and now women..to devote their talents to the game, for their benefit and personal development, and the glory of the region
that is first things first.
second quality of play and personality that must be encouraged as exemplary for all. that means that players like Samules, Cottrell, Smiff etc would not be encouraged no matter what they do at regional level. the wicb may be forced at some point to give them a try but only one. if they fail, along with our accurate assessment of their abilities that would be it. no more!
we would encourage class. Shive was one type of class, the same as Paint. Sarwan was another type of class along with our top batsmen of that type..Viv, Lara etc. similarly our pace and spin bowlers..we pik the best we have based on class, brains,ambition... that expresses itself in attitude and results on the field
and on course we put the same standards on the administration. first the rules must be change for accession to the wicb. the wicb must be answerable, accountable to the people of the region, through control by the regional government through the collective institution that represents the region CARICOM.
at least that must be put in place...if not some more direct form of representation that brings the power closer to the peoples hands. the wicb cannot be answerable to the ICC..and most directly to the BCCI. to hell with that. this is the west indies not India
and the quality of people must be west indian in the best sens of that term..a standard set by Worrell himself. we can go to Worrel for that outlook and set it as a qualification for administrative participation in west indies cricket. that rules out all who now administer west indies cricket..including skunt Lloyd.
the wicb must cease being a bureaucracy with a vested interest of its own..its own profitability relative to the take or cost on the wicb revenues imposed on the institution by its administration. that is now the central purpose of the wicb...not the outfitting of a top class team to represent the region. if that does not stop then we will soon have a monster wicb staff of a few hundred people all feeding off the a last place cricket team, continuing to sink through the international cricket floor.
that is of no concern to the parasitic bureaucracy that runs the cricket. their primary function is that as long as there is cricket their is sufficient revenue to meet all expenses..mainly their own huge salaries..or compensation. they wont be taking very much as salaries or income. the tax rates are to heavy on income. so they will pay themselves in forms that avoid high rates of taxation. so we must speak of compensation, bonuses, stock options in entities they set up for investment etc. look out.
until this stops and is replaced by a real nationalist administration accountable to the people, creating the means to attract and properly compensate talent to the game, maintain a positive symbiosis between admin and players...then we will continue sinking from a former cricket juggernaut to below last place

Scouting will have to be high on the List.
Cause we have proven that we lack the talent to compete last 20 years...

rewards will attract the necessary talent.
if scouting... ultimately it will have to separate top quality talent..lots that would emerge once the conditions are right..not to sift through the boonies looking scare talent

we could have made much better use of the talent we did have..and got immediately about setting the stage to attract and develop more. we could have been far more competitive had we a proper administration in positive symbiosis with region and players
instead the last 15 have been years of war between players/administration. the election of horrendous men to run the game and the selection of eve more horrendous coaches by those horrendous men, to lead the west indies team to hell
no team could be competitive when it is at odds with itself

Cummins
Brathwaite
Matthew
Beaton

I think Delorn is done..an opportunity missed. beat the iron....or forget it!
I never thought Carlos was good enuff. Cummins is still a prospect in my estimation. Mindley too.
Mathew and Beaton I dont know very well.
at 30 and so many ins and outs I would not pay too much attention to Ravi. it would be up to him to really get down to it, get himself back into top shape, harvesting wickets and etc. I would not be persuing him...he would have to do the persuing
Kenroy and Pascal as well. Tonge is not on my radar. he is clean off!

we will not solve that problem anytime soon. the west indian cricket situation is about to get even worse.....
Shive will be gone...Gayle will be gone. there is no more Rampaul, Narine, Shilly and Benn. the only real batsman we have is Paint.
Holder is not very good unless he becomes a class batman and bats up the order. he will never be a great or good bowler..nor captain.
no player is really looking to test cricket but to get into the T20 goodies. there is nutten in test cricket for them given the way the wich grabs everything for itself. the wicb has done a great, great, great deal of damage to west indies cricket over the past 20 years. and deh are poised to do even more.
the point is that here is not much more for west indies to fall. we have fallen most of the way there is to fall already so now we are poised to go trough the floor. there isnt much more to go before it is all over...before the parasite kills its host
