Impressive. At the end of the day celebrities are just human beings and they really deserve some privacy. In my opinion his family made the right decision.

I respect the family's decision but why not allow the public and his fans to pay their last respects to him? I am sure that Mr. Benaud would have allowed his fans and cricking family to attend his funeral if they so desired.

Well we don't know what Benaud's wishes were. He may or may not have conveyed that to his family. But the decision lies with them.
Typically in these situation there is some sort of memorial service.

The most influential broadcaster and commentator with a unique presentation style and it would have been awesome "farewell" of sorts to the dead man.I mean in terms of respect.
Any reasons to why they declined though..?
Was moved to tears when they tele casted a few of his mind boggling commentary.A legend in deed..WIll be missed..!!
