Edwards, 33, will be available in all formats and joins Hampshire as a Kolpak player :
therefore not being classed as an overseas player.

Losing Kyle Abbott as their overseas player for the upcoming season is a blow for Hampshire. He was integral to their success (and promotion) last year. He bowled with real pace and aggression that put teams immediately on the back foot. I will be interested to see what Jackson Bird provides in his place.
Hampshire still have a strong batting lineup, anchored by James Vince, but I worry about their bowling, especially as they will be facing the better teams in the County Championship this year. It looks as though Edwards will feature more in the ODI side than the four day team.

I am happy for Fidel Edwards.Fidel is a true pace bowler that could have done bigger things at the international level had the West Indies managed him better and developed him further.

Have any of you guys read the leaked reports from Steven Partridge who was the Wondies physio a few years back? It was scathing on players like Fidel for their attitude to cricket and fitness especially during their down time when not playing for the Wondies.
They didn't adhere to the recommended diet and exercise programs setup (and expected of them while off-duty) and inevitably when they returned for international duties they were overweight, unfit, and unprepared.
They had total and utter disrespect for their employer and the peoples of the region they were representing.
I wish him the best of luck in this chapter of his career.

Are these leaked reports available online, Snoopster? I would be interested in reading these if they are publicly available.

WICB Under Scrutiny : CaribbeanCricket.com Exclusive:
Fidel Edwards Injury/illness information deleted)
Comment: Fidel as in the home series of 05 sustained a right hamstring injury. All be it in a different part of the lateral hamstring.
In conjunction with Bryce Cavanagh the plan is to incorporate more short high velocity loading in his program with a particular emphasis on eccentric loading ie; rapid acceleration/deceleration drills.
Unfortunately Fidel did not undertake the bowling loads required before the 4th Test and I was therefore unable to recommend him as fully fit.
The lower limb (MTSS) have been somewhat alleviated with the new orthotics.
I have also asked Fidel to report any planned changes in footwear.
His lumbar spine was not at issue during this series.

It looks as though I am not the only one concerned about Hampshire's bowling attack as Alex Winter, writing for
ESPN
voiced the same concerns in an article today.
