There is a serious problem with West Indies cricketers when it comes to use of their talent and mental toughness. The chronic off-the-field issues are certainly retarding our cricket and I think that is the real source of the problem. Even before we try to help our players learn to use their talent and fix their mental configuration, we need a serious reform of the management structure of West Indies cricket. It is my candid view that the current state of West Indies cricket is largely due to mismanagement of the game we say we hold so close to our hearts than anything else. Recent exclusion Pollard and Bravo from the world cup squad while offering illogical and anemic reasons is a typical example of mismanagement. Arguably, these two gentlemen are capable of making any cricketing side in the world, including India where cricket is a 'religion.'

Right now Jamaicans might hold track and field closer to their hearts than cricket.

This is nothing new as this has been said for years now. Cricket is also a mental game and in fact more mental than physical and the West Indies for the most part seems to produce players with great physical abilities but lacking in the mental department.
