LOL, dem englishmen.
McCullum is great as an ODI opener and captain but to claim that he turned NZ into world beaters is stretching it.
A lot of New Zealand's success is down to the development of their fast bowlers just as the Australian success is also largely down to their pacers.
Folks need to cast their mind back to the demolition job done on the WI when they last toured NZ and before that England just managed to draw a test series there.

New Zealand performance in this edition of the world cup was an aberration.
They are a mediocre team and has always been one . The had all the advantages of playing on home grounds with pitches prepared especially for them.
West Indies could have beaten them except for the stupidity of the West Indies coaches .
The west indies were down 4 wickets but were 30 runs ahead at that point. All they had to do was play safe and preserve their wickets and ignore the asking run rate , waiting for the final 15 overs to blast away .
What happened . ? Gayle , Sammy . Russel just kept blasting away like drunken sailors , giving their wickets away. The small ground was to the advantage of the West indies but the were playing 20 20 cricket .
I blame the coach and management for that,

Too bad the skipper couldn't set and example and lead from the front in the final against Australia. McCullum came out swinging like it was a t20 match and payed the price with a first over duck. Not sure how big of a role he played in making New Zealand world beaters in the world cup.

This is how McCullum plays. He played the same way throughout the World Cup. This shouldn't be anything new to you or anyone else watching. This is the reason why he had a strikerate of over 200 in the first 10 overs of this World Cup and also why he only lasted past the 10 over mark once.
