Somerset have signed West Indies batsman Chris Gayle for a portion of the NatWest T20 Blast tournament.
Gayle will move to Taunton as an overseas player on either May 22 or May 29, depending on how his franchise performs in the IPL, and will stay with the club until June 13, allowing him to play six T20 fixtures.
He follows in the footsteps of West Indies greats Joel Garner and Viv Richards in signing for the county.

Ha ha, I wouldn't go so far as to say that. Technically yes but Garner and Richards played full seasons for Somerset for years.
Both of them put a lot of bums on seats and I expect Gayle's appearances will increase ticket sales for the T20s.

That's the reason why West Indies cricket is so messed up. Everyone wants to make quick money. He is not well enough to play in the upcoming test series against England but he can play in three different T20 series.
