The Trinidad and Tobago Red Force will most likely have to complete their ongoing WICB Professional Cricket League four-day match against the Windward Islands Volcanoes with a man short.
This after left-arm pacer Daniel St Clair was taken to hospital at lunch on the first day of the match on Friday with kidney infection.
It is a problem the pacer struggled with earlier this season and according to Red Force manager Roland Sampath, it has flared up again leaving T&T without one of their main bowlers and a handy lower order batsman.
St Clair only bowled five overs for 15 runs on the opening day before he had to be hospitalised after complaining about severe back pain.
Sampath said the 27-year-old bowler will remain in hospital for the few days and that the Red Force team was hoping for a speedy recovery.
The manager also noted that the doctors looking after St Clair had recommended that the pacer take stay in bed for three to four days.
“It is a big blow because we are a player short. He had a good game in Jamaica and we needed him in this match,†said Sampath.
T&T opted to go with three pacers against the Windwards but with St Clair out, some of the part-time bowlers had to pick up the slack.
It was still uncertain if St Clair would be fit to travel to Guyana this week for the penultimate round match against leaders Guyana Jaguars.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
