McBrine to de Villiers, OUT .....McBrine has two in one over and has put an end to the possibility of the falling of a plethora of records. De Villiers looks for the reverse sweep from the leg-stump line, gets a top edge, and backward point runs back to take the catch. This is the first ball AB has failed to score off

South Africa finish on a massive 411/4 from their 50 overs. Ireland's net run rate could take a beating which would be good news for WI.

Abbott and Steyn have completely torn apart Ireland's top order and reduced them to 52/5 (13 overs). Ireland's net run rate is going to take a pounding unless they can muster some resistance. As a side note, DRS has been used to good effect in this match with 3 successful overturns so far.

South Africa giving everyone a chance to bowl today! 8 bowlers used so far with only de Kock, Amla and Miller not getting a chance to turn their arm over. Ireland staring defeat in the face at 155/7 from 31 overs.

South Africa 411/4 (50.0 ov)
Ireland 210 (45.0 ov)
South Africa won by 201 runs
Seemed inevitable !! .....never had a chance...... but not a bad show for the Irish as a minnow to leave just 5 overs on the field against a top playing team

Royal thwacking for the irish.
I think SA is looking at exponentially getting their NRR a notch higher. They are pinning on their hopes that India will lose a match and they can rocket them over to the top,so that they can play a weaker opposition.

Now that Ireland have finally been defeated we now have the 'associate bashing' back again with a vengeance. I recognize that criticisms of the associates have been non -existent when Ireland were whipping the Windies and the other associates were competing well. The fact is that it is a wonder that associates can compete whatsoever taking into consideration deficiency of matches. Ireland played only 9 ODIs versus test teams ever since the last world cup- THATS ONLY ABOU T2 Annually. The others get much less. There have been a number of one- sided matches between test teams already( England, Windies, Pakistan) but I don't hear people hinting that they ought to be dumped from the next World Cup. The cruel thing about this is the fact that Ireland could win 3 matches and still not qualify. I really hope Ireland can gatecrash the QF now. COME ON IRELAND.
