HAMILTON, New Zealand (AFP) — South Africa defeated Zimbabwe by 62 runs in their World Cup Pool B match at Seddon Park on Sunday.
South Africa recovered from a precarious 83 for four to post a huge 339 for four with David Miller smashing an undefeated 138 for a debut World Cup century while JP Duminy scored 115 not out during their unbroken stand of 256 -- a new fifth-wicket record in all one-day internationals.
In reply, Zimbabwe were bowled out for 277 in the 49th over with Hamilton Masakadza making 80 and opener Chamu Chibhabha hitting 64.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

As a South African, this was a huge relief. At 83/4 I was terrified that we would be humiliated by our "neighbours". I won't complain if they cause an upset against another team though. It's always nice to support the underdogs.

Thanks Mail? Unfortunately I wasn't able to watch the match but had to settle for getting updates off the radio. I really wish I'd seen the partnership between Miller and Duminy.
I hope that we don't experience too many matches in which both Amla and de Villiers fail, but it's good to know that there are others who can make big contributions when required to do so.
