"New Zealand's recent form and record is ominous. In the past they have been everyone's favourite 'dark horses', but not this time. They are genuine contenders," Vaughan wrote in his column for The Telegraph. "In the past they exceeded expectation. This time they are expected to deliver and it will be interesting to see how they cope with that.
"They have always had smart cricketers able to make the most of their ability. Now they have the talent as well but have retained their usual streetwise, cricket savviness. For guys like Ross Taylor, Brendon McCullum, Daniel Vettori and Kyle Mills it is probably their last World Cup playing at the peak of their powers."
