Guyana Times article.
Georgetown, Guyana - The Enmore Community Centre Cricket Club (ECCCC) will be running off a Double Wicket cricket tournament involving clubs on the East Coast of Demerara on February 22 at the Enmore Community Centre ground, starting at 09:00 hours.
At stake will be a cash prize for the winning pair, and trophies and cricket gear for losing finalist, best bowling and batting performances and outstanding fieldsman among others.
An entrance fee of $3,000 per pair must be paid on or before 16:00 hours on February 21. A club can submit a maximum of two pairs of players.
Double Wicket is a form of cricket with two teams of two players each which are pitched against each other for a limited number of overs.
A player getting out in this form of cricket does not retire, but continues to bat but gets penalised a stipulated number of runs for each time he gets out.
Clubs on the East Coast of Demerara wishing to participate are invited to call Bheemraj Ramkellawan on 676-5681 or on 256-3197 and/or attend an important meeting at 12:00 noon today at the Enmore Community Centre. Rules of the tournament will be distributed and discussed at this meeting.
According to a release from the ECCCC, food and refreshments will be on sale on the day of the competition, while the club’s raffle will be drawn during the matches
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
