SLOW left-arm orthodox Nikita Miller says he is looking forward to the challenge of filling in for off-spinner Sunil Narine in the West Indies squad for the Cricket World Cup.
"I'm honoured and happy to be selected. I'm replacing Narine, but it is unfortunate he had to pull out because he has been great for the West Indies," the 32-year-old Miller told the Jamaica Observer.
"He will be a great loss. Hopefully, I can fill that void efficiently. Hopefully, I can do a good job for the team where required and give my best," the Jamaican bowler added.
Miller, set to depart the island tomorrow to join his regional teammates, and Sulieman Benn are the two left-arm spinners in the squad.
Narine, 26, has been doing remedial work on his bowling since being reported for having a suspected illegal action during the franchise-based Champions League Twenty20 (T20) last September.
Miller had six wickets at 15.50 with a rate of 2.32 runs per over
The World Cup is set to be hosted in Australia and New Zealand starting next month. The West Indies' opening game is against Ireland on February 16.
Other teams in Pool B are South Africa, India, Pakistan, Zimbabwe and United Arab Emirates.
