James Anderson says he prefers the system of fining or banning players for misbehaving rather than introducing cards.
Anderson’s England team-mate Joe Root has backed the idea of having yellow or red cards to tackle sledging.
It comes after a number of rows between Australia and India with the latest seeing David Warner fined for telling Rohit Sharma to “speak English†on Sunday.
Ahead of Friday’s Carlton Mid Tri-Series game with the Aussies, Anderson does not believe on-field aggression has got out of hand.
He said: “Of course there is a line and all players are very aware of that.
Ahead of the World Cup, James Anderson has warned that England can beat anyone on their day.
“I don’t sledging at the moment is any more than there has been in history of cricket.
"I'm not sure about (a card system). At the moment if you cross that line the umpires are within their rights to give either a fine or a ban.
“I don’t want to get fined or banned, so I'm more than happy with that rather than red or yellow cards.â€
England will go into the game with the hosts in buoyant mood after thrashing India by nine wickets in Brisbane.
And Anderson said the performance showed they have the talent ahead of next month’s World Cup.
He added: “We’re still developing as a team, there’s a lot of talent in the dressing room.
“Going into World Cup you want to be in some decent form.
“[Win over India] was a great performance, but it was one game. We know we’ve got a lot of hard work to come.â€
Meanwhile, Australia wicket-keeper Brad Haddin insisted his side would not be changing their aggressive approach.
He said: "We know the brand of cricket we want to play and Davey's [Warner] no different to all of us.
"We're out there to compete. The umpires are there to do their job and they'll adjudicate on anything they see that's unfit and not in the spirit of the game.
"Every Australian team I've played in respects the game of cricket and respects the opposition.â€
