PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad, CMC – Jamaica outplayed Leeward Islands Hurricanes to register a convincing nine wicket win in the fourth game of the NAGICO Super50 at Queen’s Park Oval here Friday.
Jamaica wiped out an easy target losing one wicket in the process after their bowlers demolished a batting line up which offered little fight.
Opener John Campbell counted two fours to score 26 before he was caught.
But Nkrumah Bonner led with a half century as the Jamaicans trotted to 119 for one after Dave Bernard Jr, Damion Jacobs and Nikita Miller ran through the batting order in 40.1 overs.
The Hurricanes won the toss and decided to bat only to stumble through an innings, crippled by Bernard who snared three for 10, Jacobs 3-24 and Miller 2-13.
Two small partnerships offered a glimmer of hope but they never matured into scores that would pose a threat to Jamaica.
Montcin Hodge and Austin Richard scraped together 28 runs for the first wicket but both batsmen were unable to even carry their individual scores to 20.
Orlando Peters top scored with 20 and shared in a 25 run stand for the sixth wicket with Hayden Walsh Jr, one of Bernard Jr’s three victims.
Bonner smashed seven fours and was unbeaten on 52 while Tamar Lambert was 30 not out as Jamaica secured victory in 32.3 overs.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
