Hobart Hurricanes have joined Brisbane Heat on the KFC T20 Big Bash League scrapheap after a whirlwind innings from Chris Lynn propelled the Heat to an 18-run victory at the Gabba.
The Hurricanes needed a big win to keep their finals hopes alive, but faced a tough ask as soon as Lynn replaced Joe Burns at the wicket with the Heat 1-3 in the second over.
Lynn smashed England fast-bowler Tim Bresnan for five consecutive fours in the third over before launching two sixes in the next over off Ben Hilfenhaus to give the Heat a lightning start.
The right-hander smashed 12 fours and three sixes in his 35-ball innings of 81 as he and Peter Forrest (46 from 48 balls) guided the Heat towards a massive total.
The Hurricanes fought back brilliantly in the middle overs, but some late hitting from Ben Cutting (24 from
lifted the Heat to 6-198 from their 20 overs.
