The Barbados Pride breathed a collective sigh of relief yesterday.
That’s because a CT Scan done on the brain of Barbadian opening batsman Omar Phillips yesterday came up negative for any damage, after he was struck at the back of the head and rendered unconscious while representing his country.
Phillips, 28, was at the crease in the West Indies Cricket Board’s Professional Cricket League match between the Pride and the Windward Islands Volcanoes at the Arnos Vale Sports Complex when he was injured.
Phillips was at the non-striker’s end, and his partner Shai Hope played an aggressive shot which blasted off his bat and slammed into the batman’s skull. Phillips was wearing a helmet, but fell unconscious to the ground.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
