This is really way too sad ....
No matter who this cricketer was and from whatever team ... just gone too soon from a freak accident.
In living memory can recall some severe injuries (from Contractor to Boucher, Gibbs etc.) but cannot recall a death ... too sad, a promising career and just a few days before 26th birthday....
Oww but spare a thought for the bowler Abbott ...... oh darn !!!

I can't begin to imagine what Abbott is going tru, he was responsible for Hughesy demise albeit a freak accident. That has to be nitemarish for him

I hope Abbott comes through this and it is good he is getting support immediately.
No bowler has that intent and I wish him the best in his recovery.

He should be fine, but he will never forget this. I bet he will think of this incident every time he bowls a bouncer. Stay strong lad!

In a press conference this morning, a day after Hughesy's death, James Sutherland of Cricket Australia said that ongoing support and counselling is being given to cricketers expecially Sean Abbott. He added that he was impressed with how the young man appeared to be handling this difficult situation..........
He also said that no decision had yet been made as to whether the first Test vs India would go ahead. CA have taken a very sensitive approach and have been commended for this. I believe that it is up to the players themselves if they want to play....
