MS Dhoni's understudy ready to take centre stage at the Gabba
Virat Kohli will become India's 32nd Test captain at the Commonwealth Bank Test Series opener in Brisbane on December 4, with regular skipper MS Dhoni missing the start of the four-Test series against Australia because of injury.
Responding to Peter Siddle's suggestion that he might find the rowdy crowd and added responsibilities "a bit daunting", Kohli got on the front foot.
"Well that's for me to know and for me to experience," Kohli said on Sunday.
"I've played against him, he's quite a competitive guy so I'm not surprised there's already some banter starting from that end ... (and) I don't mind all that.
"I love leading the side. I love being captain.
"I don't see any issues on why I can't be up to the challenge."

It might be good for Kohli as he is a very determined guy and with his ability and talent, captaincy might prove to be the saving grace for him in test cricket. With his awful last series in England, he does have to prove himself in this form of cricket as of yet. Especially at overseas.

News: Steven Smith has suffured a muscle strain ahead of the Brisbane Test against India.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

Bad news for Australia, he is in such a supreme form, would be a huge loss if he sits out of the first test match.

He definitely looks ready to take on this responsibility. This is going to be his real test though.
