Sussex opening batsman Luke Wells has signed a new two-year contract to run until the end of the 2016 season.
The 23-year-old son of former Sussex skipper Alan Wells has scored more than 3,600 first-class runs since his debut in 2010, including eight centuries.
"It is great news that Luke has decided to stay with Sussex for the foreseeable future," said current captain Ed Joyce.
"There is still so much scope for development and improvement, especially in white-ball cricket."
The county are still awaiting decisions on contract offers made to seamer Lewis Hatchett, spinner Will Beer and all-rounder Stefan Piolet.
However, they have already strengthened their squad for next summer by signing pace bowlers Ajmal Shahzad and Tymal Mills from Notts and Essex respectively.
Sussex finished third in this summer's County Championship, 45 points behind champions Yorkshire, but failed to progress beyond the group stage of either limited-overs competition.
