Dambulla, Sri Lanka - West Indies A fell just six runs short off their revised target in a rain-hit 1st One Day versus Sri Lanka A at the Rangiri Dambulla International Stadium.
After rain hit, the regional side were given a revised target of 78 runs from 20 overs after Sri Lanka A had scored 245/8 from their 50 overs. The West Indies A could only muster 71/2 before they ran out of overs.
Kraigg Brathwaite scored a patient 24 runs from 44 balls while fellow opener, Nkrumah Bonner, was equally cautious in his approach, hitting 21 runs from 45 balls.
Earlier, Lahiru Thirimanne led Sri Lanka A's charge after the hosts were put in to bat. Thirimanne top scored for Sri Lanka A with 74. There were also half-centuries for wicket-keeper, Dinesh Chandimal (60) and Thilina Kandamby (58*).
Sri Lanka A now lead the three match series 1-0.
