Top-order batsman Kane Williamson will sit out the rest of New Zealand's one-day cricket series against South Africa as he continues his recovery from a wrist injury.
Williamson missed the opening match in Mt Maunganui on Tuesday when the Proteas took a 1-0 lead with a six-wicket victory.
He has now been ruled out of the remaining two fixtures as well, with Black Caps management not wanting to rush his return at the start of a big season that includes the 2015 World Cup.
Coach Mike Hesson says Williamson has been able to do batting practice without too much discomfort.
"But it's not something we're going to rush," he said on Wednesday.
"It's pretty much fixed. It just needs some rehab."
Williamson's unavailability means the Black Caps will go through the series without their two best batsmen, after Ross Taylor was earlier ruled out of all three matches with a calf complaint.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
