Younis Khan named in Pakistan squad for first Test against Australia

Younis Khan, who threatened last month to quit Test cricket because he wasn’t in Pakistan’s limited-overs side, has been picked for the first Test against Australia in Dubai next week.

The 91-Test batsman with an average of 51 was in a 19-man squad that will be trimmed to 15 after a four-day match between Pakistan A and Australia ends in Sharjah on Saturday.

Khan escaped sanctions after criticizing the Pakistan selectors for dropping him from the one-day international team, before it was swept 3-0 by Australia. Khan remains keen to play in the Cricket World Cup.

Also in the squad was opening batsman Mohammad Hafeez, who missed out on the ODI series due to a hand injury, but was expected to be fit for the first test.

Opening batsman Khurram Manzoor was dropped after scoring only 39 runs in the last test series against Sri Lanka, which Pakistan lost 2-0.

Pakistan will also be without injured fast bowlers Wahab Riaz and Junaid Khan.

The first of two Tests starts on October 22.

Well Khan since you average about 31 runs in ODIs I suppose that you may have an argument for being kept on the one-day side. But the last time you score 50 was about two years ago and most of your innings have been poor. So if you were a selector, would you really choose you?
