Left-arm spinner Akshar Patel has been added to the Indian ODI cricket team for their last two ODIs against West Indies, the BCCI announced on Tuesday.
For the one-off T20 International in the same series, a slew of new faces including Akshar Patel, Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson and Karn Sharma have been included into the national cricket team. Three of these players, namely Patel, Pandey and Samson, will make a debut appearance for India in a T20I, which is scheduled to take place in Cuttack on October 22.
Of these four, Samson is youngest at 19. The lad from Thiruvananthapuram is a promising batsman who can also keep wickets. Patel, 20, who slots himself as a bowling allrounder is from Anand, Gujarat. Manish Pandey, 25, was the first Indian to score a century in the Indian Premier League, and is from Nainital, Uttaranchal. Leggie Karn Sharma, 26, is from Meerut and debuted for India against England in a T20I last month in Birmingham. His spell in the match that India lost by 3 runs was 4-0-28-1.
