"The things that had driven us in the past were no longer important to the newer generation. Black pride and its militancy, the shrugging off of our colonial legacy, Frank Worrell completing the West Indian version of the Jackie Robinson journey, these things have been historically severed" Calypsonian David Rudder on the difference between the 80s and today

It is very simple. Back in the day the British administered West Indies cricket. As their people, money and cultural influence was phased out so did the structures and mental application diminish. It is no accident that the last top quality players such as Lara and Chanderpaul were the last ones to come through that old system. And as some others have said, West Indies cricket won't ever recover.

Board executives are like pigs feeding at the trough !
Island executive are trading VOTES for their constituents inclusion on the XI.
Head Coaches are collecting a Salary for doing nothing.
Players Union reps are now colluding with the Board to screw their membership.
The List is Long : Corruption has replaced our sense of Pride .

Whatever list is produced it has no excuse for personal Pride or lack thereof.
I think people do have pride but the angst of the post colonial era is rightly gone and in fact you should not have to have the colonial issue to be your own motivator.
The motivation has to come from within, hard work and dedication from Guys like Walsh and Shiv and that is pride.
In fact, with the recent changes, this team is performing more convincingly and has actually beaten the No 1 ranked team in the first of the ODIs.
Something not to be complacent about but it is something to feel a sence of satisfaction about. Yes they failed in the second but having this pay issue over their heads cannot be easy.
2 to go and West Indies can still do this. They won settinga target and failed chasing so they will learn but there are good signs to acknowledge.

There are zero signs of elevating above ICC # 8 out of 10 Teams...
Our A team loaded with TEST caps got trounced with a Day to spare by Lanka !
Our ODI team cannot LAST 50 overs vs. India
