FORMER Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) top-order batsman Kyle Corbin and rookie left-arm spinner Jomel Warrican are among ten players retained by reigning West Indies first-class champions, Barbados, for the inaugural Professional Cricket League (PCL) four-day tournament, bowling off next month.
Corbin, an attacking right-handed stroke maker, and Warrican have been performing impressively in the LIME Elite division competition, which enters its penultimate round today, weather permitting.
Warrican, 22, who has taken 14 wickets at 18.42 runs apeice in five first-class matches while representing both Barbados and the CCC in the regional four-day tournament, is the leading bowler with 49 wickets.
Corbin, 24, who has played 42 first-class matches with a batting average of 25.84 while scoring one hundred and 14 half-centuries, has the second highest aggregate of 616 runs behind Pickwick’s Kyle Hope (645). Only last week, he hit a century against the West Indies “A†team in a practice match.
The other players retained are the versatile Jonathan Carter, West Indies “A†team fast bowler Miguel Cummins, Carlos Brathwaite, captain of the ‘Aâ€â€ˆside, off-spinner all-rounder Ashley Nurse, batting all-rounder Kevin Stoute, left-handed opener Omar Phillips, wicket-keeper Shane Dowrich and West Indies T20 and One Day International batsman Dwayne Smith.
The Barbados selectors were not required to retain current Test players
