Albion beat Port Mourant to reach final

Albion Community Centre made light work of arch rivals Port Mourant Cricket Club in their semi-final match of the Berbice Bridge Company Inc (BBCI) First Division 50-Over Knock-out Cricket on Sunday at the Port Mourant Community Centre and in the process set up a meeting with Rose Hall Town Youth and Sports Club Cricket team in the final.
The final is billed for Sunday under lights at the Albion Community Centre. In their semi-final match on Sunday Port Mourant lost the toss, were sent in to take first strike and found runs difficult to come by. They were eventually all out for 138 in 49.2 overs.
Loyydel Lewis provided little resistance with a top score of 34 while Troy Gonsalves chipped in with 26 and Zamal Khan made a patient 34.
Port Mourant never threatened to make a challenging score, as Gudakesh Motie and Veerasammy Permaul spun a web around the Port Mourant batsmen, each taking 3 for 20 off 10 overs each.
Andrea Percival grabbed 2 for 15 from 9 overs as runs were non-existent in many overs and the Port Mourant batsmen seemed to be playing a four-day game. Balchand Baldeo and Daniel Lewis each took one wicket, as Port Mourant failed to bat out the 50 overs, falling four balls short.
Set a modest 139 for victory, Albion started cautiously but soon were up and merrily on their way.

Berbice wicket keeper batsman Anthony Bramble was particularly severe on the bowlers, forcing Port Mourant to use eight bowlers to send down 26 overs, as Albion overhauled the total with almost half of the overs remaining.
Bramble was left not out on 58 and Permaul on 13 as Albion reached 140-4. David Latcha was dismissed for 22.
