The West Indians did not play that way so I would think not.

Thanks for sharing this Mail. It's great to see this again. Once Gooch was out, England were done, losing their last seven wickets for just 11 runs.

Yes Dilly but even when the 100 came up, thought we still had a shout given the 60 overs format, but alas was not to be.

That second dropped catch was clearly Oscar worthy. ::LOL::

I am happy they [England] gave us [India] the game of cricket, which they can't play

very well, and the English language, which I can't speak very well.     ::LOL::

YES SNOOPS.  YOU HIT IT RIGHT THERE :D :D

THAT IS WHAT IS MISSING FROM REV'S DRY OLE' STATS...HIS OLD SPEECHLESS NUMBERS ::LOL:: ::LOL:: ::LOL::

it was to see Viv in the flesh or on the screen when you can replay to your hearts content.  no guess work, no fear..just a decision:  they get me or I get them.  but for them to get me they have to wade through this skill of mine..real technique but additionally the physical skills of eye and body, of mind to innovate... to calculate and take the best possible risks...risks that batsmen from the rest of the cricket countries would not take under any circumstances.

that is the Viv they called the greatest regardless of stats.  no one else could do it..or tried to bat like that.

and of course when you can do that confidence is an after-thought.  confidence is combined in there naturally with all of that..it is not a question separate and distinct at all.  confidence is a natural part of the mix that showed Viv fearless at the crease against anybody at all

MAPPIPPEE,

Where do you see Vivian sitting in the context of great Windian batsmen?

As you know I have no time for him from my personal experience of meeting him and being around him.

I will never dispute his good abilities on the field of play especially as a batsman but his character makes him ordinary for me.....

He is not a West Indian like you MAPPIPPEE.

Compared to Sir Frank, he has the biggest inferiority complex of all........
