Pujara for his home debut - but it was one to forget as he wrote his name in the record books for the wrong reasons in the 20th over of the day. Pujara played a ball from former Derbyshire fast bowler Atif Sheikh down into the pitch and then knocked it away with his glove as it threatened to bounce into his stumps. Leicestershire's fielders appealed immediately and after the umpires consulted, Pujara was sent on his way to mark an unusual chapter in what has been a disappointing summer in England for one of the world's most highly-rated batsmen.
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

What has this got to do with cricket being a "gentleman's game"? The guy deflected the ball away from the stumps to PREVENT getting out. That's perfectly legitimate to appeal for it. Otherwise everyone could just use their hands and get it done with.

The last batsman I an recall being called out for handling the ball was Graham Gooch in 1993 against Australia at Old Trafford.

This was the 59th instance of "handled the ball" dismissal in first-class cricket. In international cricket, there have been 9 "handled the ball" dismissals.
India's Mohinder Amarnath was given out for handling the ball in a ODI against Australia in 1986 at Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG).
