I would have done him in if I too was allowed to pelt and stone him down and call it 'mystery spin'!! ::LOL::

Judge: "Overrule!! And counsel, just for the record, and for the integrity of the record, in Ajmal's case it's the 43 degree rule." ::LOL::

I do not see Shiv as a great batsman but he has exceptional qualities and a sponge.
Some time ago I went to Shenley to see Middlesex v Windies and as is typical it was drizzling when we got there and one man could be seen in the outdoor nets and that was Shiv.
Did not go out of his way to court attention or look at anyone. He could have been a local lad just wanting agame.
Very admirable character and seemingly allround good egg.

FAIR ENOUGH! You are entitled to your opinion.
* The Indians view Dravid(52 avg/41 strike rate) as a great.
* The Australians view Border(50 avg/40 strike rate) as a great.
* The Sri Lankans view Jayawardene(49 avg/55 strike rate) as a great.
* The Pakistanis view Miandad(52 avg/53 strike rate) as a great.
* But many West Indians refuse to see Shiv(53 avg/43 strike rate/11684 runs/30 hundreds/65 fifties) as a great because in their narrow minds only Sobers, Lara and Richards can be greats.
* There is a reason West Indians are at the BOTTOM OF THE BARREL in nearly all their endeavors
they are too damn narrow-minded.
Rev

you are underestimating Kalli's ability to read the spinners! While most batsmen play off the pitch (including the great Sobers), Kalli read the spin from the hand. Thats why he was the master.
That does not take away any respect for the great Shane Warne or Murali. But as Rev said, just as Lara master Murali and Shiv mastered Warne (when Shiv was using his feet), Kalli would have done the same and even better. ;D

I have little doubt Kalli would have handled Warne and scored against him. Look how easily an old retired out of shape Viv Richards played Warne while Warne was still young and in his prime.
