Kevin Gilzene smashed 189 not out to lead St Ann CA to a five-wicket win over Zone C rivals Police Sports Club in yesterday's high-scoring Jamaica Cricket Association (JCA) All-Island 50-overs match at Elletson Road.
Batting first, Police piled up 384-6 thanks to Ordaine Hutchinson's 106 and Gerald Laing's 91. But Gilzene stole the show in an improbable run-chase which saw St Ann reaching the target with five wickets and 10 balls to spare.
Scores: Police 384-6 (50 overs); St Ann 385-5 (48.2 overs).
In the other Zone C game, Alwayne Williams struck 92 to help visitors St Mary CA to a 113-run victory over neighbours Portland CA at Folly Oval.
Scores: St Mary 209 (46.2 overs); Portland 96 (26.3 overs).
In Zone A, St Elizabeth CA recorded a 27-run win over St James CA via the Duckworth & Lewis method after rain halted proceedings at the Trelawny Multi-purpose Stadium.
Scores: St Elizabeth 198 (42.4 overs); St James 86-5 (27 overs).
In another Zone A encounter at the Elgin Town Community Centre, the Hanover CA team slumped to a nine-wicket loss to Trelawny CA.
Trelawny's left-arm spinner Osbourn Palmer grabbed 5-10 to help dismiss Hanover for a dismal 44, and ultimately set up the straight forward win.
Scores: Hanover 44 (15.1 overs); Trelawny 47-1 (5.5 overs).
Former schoolboy standout Oraine Williams blazed 119 in St Catherine CC's 108-run beating of Clarendon CA in Zone B clash at Chedwin Park.
Scores: St Catherine CC 266-4 (50 overs); Clarendon 158 (32.3 overs).
Left-arm spinner David Powell's 6-16 orchestrated Manchester CA's 194-run mauling of St Catherine CA in the Zone B encounter at Manchester High.
Scores: Manchester 249-7 (43 overs); St Catherine CA 55 (14.5 overs).
In Zone D, Kingston CC easily eclipsed hosts Lucas CC by eight wickets in their clash at Nelson Oval.
Scores: Lucas 73 (20 overs); Kingston 74-2 (9.2 overs).
Also in Zone D, Kashane Roberts's even century was the difference in St Thomas CA's 100-run trouncing of visitors Boys' Town at the Goodyear Oval.
Scores: St Thomas 291-6 (50 overs); Boys' Town 191 (39.1 overs).
In a set of rescheduled clashes to be played today, University of the West Indies host Jamaica Defence Force at the Mona Campus in Zone C and Melbourne CC and Kensington CC meet at the Melbourne Oval in Zone D.
The first round rescheduled fixture between Zone D teams Boys' Town CC and Kingston CC, set for Collie Smith Drive, will also be played today.
Games are slated to commence at 9:00 am. The top two teams from each zone at the end of the preliminary phase will advance to the quarter-finals on October 18.
The semi-finals are scheduled a week later on October 25, while the championship game is set for November
