ECCB/Elizabeth Styles first-division Final…
Contrasting half-centuries from openers Chris Pattadin and Andre Gomes have guided Ogle to a thrilling four-wicket win over Lusignan in the final of the East Coast Cricket Board (ECCB) sponsored Elizabeth Styles first-division tournament on Sunday last.
Chasing a target of 238, Ogle started aggressively to reach the hundred landmark in the 19th over with Pattadin reaching his half-century.
The pair batted sensibly, and while the boundaries were leaking the duo was equally looking for singles to rotate the strike and keep the scoreboard at a controllable run rate. Batting on 41, Gomes suffered a minor injury and retired hurt.
However, Azimul Hanif joined Pattadin, but the latter was dismissed shortly after for 54.

Brian Sookram blasted three sixes in his 10-ball 22-runs before he too was removed. Gomes resumed his innings and together with Hanif took Ogle close to the winning target.
With 40 required from 32 balls, Hanif (45), Khemraj Dindyal (9), Tulsiram Balkarran (0) and Anand Persaud (5) were dismissed in quick succession.
But with nine needed from 12 balls Gomes, who was dropped on 80 was joined by Devindra Ramtahal and took their team home with three balls to spare.
Gomes remained unbeaten on 88. He smashed six fours and 6 sixes.
Bowling for Lusignan , Gaganand Suknanand (2-35), Narvan Singh (1-26) and Kumar Bishundyal (1-33) were the most successful bowlers.
Earlier, Lusignan decided to bat first saw openers Brian Sattaur and Steve Ramdass put together 51 for the first wicket before Sattuar was run out for 26.
Somnauth Bharrat joined Ramdass and batted brilliantly, smashing six sixes and one four before he was caught by Chris Pattadin of the bowling of Andre Gomes for 54.
Ramdass, who played a supporting role, was eventually dismissed for 36.
Leon Morgan arrival at the crease saw some explosive batting from Ramjeet, who belted six sixes and two fours before he was removed for 64. Morgan (26) and Kumar Bishundyal (2) were the other batsmen dismissed. Bowling for Ogle Sports Club, Anand Persaud (3-48), Sahadeo Ramkellawan (1-35) and Andre Gomes (1-25) were the best bowlers on show.
Gomes was declared Man-of-the-Match. Meanwhile, President of the East Coast Cricket Board Bissoondyal Singh at the presentation ceremony congratulated both teams for reaching the final and for playing good-competitive cricket.
He also thanked the sponsor Elizabeth Styles of Port Washington, New York and Miami for their continued support for the game throughout Guyana. The announcement that the company will be renewing the sponsorship was greeted with a loud applause from the players and spectators.
