Port of Spain, Trinidad - Esmeralda beat Preysal by six wickets in the final of the Rainbow Cup T20 cricket tournament, which took place on August 29.
Preysal made 105 runs for nine wickets with Darion Ramkelawan unbeaten on 20 while Aamir Ali was at the other end on 10. Nathaneal Ramcharithar notched 11 for Preysal. The major wicket-takers for Esmeralda were Dexter Sween (two for 12), Jonathan Bootan (2/23) and Jarlanie Searles (2/30).
Man of the Match Dejourn Charles lashed 66 while Bootan contributed 23 as Esmeralda responded with 106/6 in 14.3 overs. Sharing the wickets for Preysal were Kyle Madoo (2/18), Ali (2/24) and Joel Sutherland (2/25).
The third-place play-off between Young Stars and Glenora Smashers was reduced to 10 overs a side due to rain. Keagan Simmons compiled 36 and Shatrughan Rambaran hit 33 as Young Stars posted 99/4.
In their reply, Glenora were restricted to 37/7 with Darius Gopaul, the Man of the Match, taking 3/4 and Emilo Gopaul 2/8.
