Lahore: Pakistan's former leg-spinner Abdul Qadir's house was raided by police here in connection with an ongoing crackdown on workers of cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan's Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaaf party.
"Presumably the raid was carried out by the police since Fatima, 24, the daughter of Qadir, is a senior member of the PTI's women's wing while his son is also a member of the party," said a source close to the former test cricketer.
Qadir declined to comment on the matter but TV channels reported that the raid took place on Friday night.
The police have cracked down on PTI workers and members in the last 48 hours after the sit in protest by Khan's party in the heart of Islamabad completed a month.
Qadir, who was close to Khan during his playing days, is known to be a vocal supporter of the PTI.
Some other former and present players have also voiced their support for Khan and his party.
A source aware of the development said the police which carried out the raid only realised later on that it was the residence of the former cricketer that is why the matter was now being hushed up.
Khan wants Sharif's ouster over alleged rigging in last year's poll which his party lost. He is agitating since August 14. At least three people have been killed and over 550 injured in violence during the protests.
