Moeen abuse shows cricket's dark side
The booing of Moeen Ali at Edgbaston revealed the ugly side of sporting rivalry and suggested intolerance remains in the UK. It should not be ignored

Moeen Ali
was booed when he came out to bat. He was booed when he came on to bowl. He was booed most times he touched the ball. And he was booed either because he is a player of Asian origin playing for England - Ravi Bopara also attracted some boos, though far fewer - because he is Muslim or, perhaps most pertinently, because he is of Pakistani origin and the vast majority of the crowd were India supporters.

I was unaware of this but it shows great ignorance on the part of the Indian supporters.
Pathetic!

This matter has caused a great deal of distress for Moeen's family and both the press and the ECB have taken a dim view of the Indians behaviour.
It is no banter and done in good spirit it is purely because of his religion and origins and this is inexcusable.
In the future the poor and racist attitude of the Indians will force the ECB to confiscate all the paraphernalia bought in by Indian supporters including flags, turbans etc and I am all for that now that this has happened.
We have had fixtures against India and Pakistan in this country and it is predominantly the Indians who have been the most aggressive in their behaviour.
Putting this in context, I have seen our Black English footballers in Europe having similar boos when on the ball with banana peels being thrown in places like Russia, Poland etc.
This, they will say, is banter but OUT WITH RACISM.
I am ashamed an English home fixture seems like an away one (much like Windians feel when we play in Bim but we do not slate the Windians) and we have to stamp out this Indian arrogant racism.
I am a bit disappointed we have not had more comment from this forum.
I am ashamed these sorts are in my country much like I have similar views on the other White extremists.
RACISM IS RACISM AND OUT WITH IT!!!!

If the ECB were to limit the tickets to Indian fans to 35-40%, which happens in Football, we will hear the cry of racism and this forum will be up in arms!
Wouldn't we?

i think it is being taken a little too seriously. I am not sure why he was being booed but by making such a hue and cry about it, they have ensured that he will be booed wherever he plays by Indians. I can't wait till they come to India!! He is done.

Nasser Hussain was there but we racist Whites are the ones raising the issues about Moeen's abuse by the Indians.
I would ban all their appurtanences and limit ticket sales to 25% scattered all over the ground.

Do you think it is making a fuss when a black footballer is booed every time he is on the ball, with banana peels and monkey noises make?
Maybe thoose black players are being over sensitive?
It is fairly obvious from the historic issues between India and Pakistan and Moeen's heritage.
I will limit the number of Indian supporters for English home fixtures in the future and that should solve it.

Is this not more important than SR?
It is not just about an Englishman being subjected to racial abuse.
It is about what you accept and not accept.
If you accept racism then leave it and if you do not, you must make a stand.
