A record-breaking innings from Kevon Boodie propelled Essequibo to a huge victory over the National Under-19 team in their Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) Senior Inter-County Limited Overs encounter yesterday at the Demerara Cricket Club (DCC) ground.
Boodie blasted the first ever double century at the senior Inter County level to guide Essequibo to a mammoth 386-8 from their allotted 50 overs. In response, the U-19s were restricted to 157 all out in 34.2 overs, giving Essequibo victory by 229 runs.
Boodie, a former national U19 player, was dropped twice and responded by smashing 21 sixes and 14 fours to register the highest individual score recorded at the senior level in the Inter County limited overs competition.
His top score of 217 surpassed fellow Essequibian and former national youth player Yogeshwar Lall’s 185, which was the previous best.
The 21-year-old right-handed batsman shared an opening stand of 155 runs with Royan Fredericks before the latter was removed
