This is a bizarre declaration to me.

Why send in your number 9 to have a partnership of 5 runs unless you are having a short sharp shock before lunch!

How long before lunch?

* The plan this morning was to bat for an hour and declare. Shiv was not unhappy being left on 85*

Congrats to shiv for that, that really shows his temperament for test matches. He can last for a long time on the field, and that's his skill, its always in him, they just can't get him out that easy. And that is a great motivation for the rest of the team too.

HERE IS A LITTLE SIMPLE ARITHMETIC

* Shiv has a career STRIKE RATE of 43 in tests----he scores 43 runs from every 100 balls he faces.

* In the first innings versus Bangladesh Shiv faced 226 balls.

* If he had scored at his career 43 SR, Shiv's score would have been 97 runs(0.43 x 226)

* Shiv ended up scoring 85* at a SR of 37.61---which means he was just 12 runs short if he had scored at his career Strike rate of 43.

* SO WHY ALL THE COMMOTION and HATE FROM POSTERS OVER AT CC ?

* Pure prejudice against the Shivster
they are jealous of the Unity bhai----plain and simple----it deeply pains them to see Shiv close in on becoming the highest test scorer in WI history.

12,000 - 11,499 = 501

* Shiv needs 501 runs to reach 12,000----he has 1 more test versus Bang, 3 versus India in October, and then 3 versus South Africa in December/Jan.

QUESTION:

* Will Shiv's 85* be good enough to put him back in the Top 5 of the ICC Rankings ?

915---Sangakkara(1)
888---deVilliers(2)
873---Matthews(3)
871---Warner(4)
863---Amla(5)
854---Chanderpaul(6)

www.relianceiccrankings.com/ranking/test/batting/

* So how many points is that 85* against lowly Bang worth ?

* SHIV'S HATERS OVER AT CC WILL MANUFACTURE THE FLIMSIEST OF EXCUSES TO DISCREDIT HIM.

* Pure prejudice from those people. Look how overjoyed they were when Ramdin declared the innings.

* It was obviously a planned declaration----the goal was to bat 50 minutes and declare---Shiv was not disappointed.

* Initially I was pi$$ed at Ramdin, but then realized they had a plan in place---bat 50 minutes and declare.

* THE WI GOAL IS TO WIN THIS TEST.
