Ian Bell ruled out with fractured toe, won't be replaced in England squad for fifth ODI.

Darren Stevens on missing out with England: "I'd like to think I was good enough to play, but we’ll never know now."

I'd like to see what others can do. Over the last year, Bell has appeared in 13 games, scored 433 runs with a high score of 68 and an average of 36.08. If you take out his 50 against Scotland, his average drops to 34.82. His numbers and scoring rate are very similar to Cook. I just don't think you can have both in the same ODI lineup.

Not that he was doing feck all anyway
Anywho I guess they have replacements who can't do worse than Bell. His position in the squad itself is (or should be) under scrutiny.

That's a bummer. Not like he was doing good, but he is still one of the most experienced players in the team. They needed him there.

That is not a big loss for England to be fair. In fact, this could be the perfect opportunity to blood some youngsters who have been knocking at the door for the longest time. Jason Roy getting an opportunity in the t20s is a good start although seeing him bat in the county t20 league, he is not too special either.

I agree, we know what Ian Bell can do, gives a chance to see what the future looks like.

I am but to be fair he has not been doing terribly well of late as is the rest of the team.
We just do not seem to embrace the OD game as much.
