A responsible 58 by man-of-the-match Jonathan Foo led Albion to a four-wicket win over the Rest of Berbice in a feature 50-Over match played at Albion yesterday after reaching 173-6 in 48.2 overs in reply to the 172 all out in 49.2 overs made by the Rest of Berbice.
The Rest of Berbice had a good start of 46 between Shimron Hetmyer and Rafael Estriado before losing Estriado for 14 and Hetmyer for 27. It was a struggle thereafter with The Rest of Berbice finishing with an eventual inadequate total. Anthony Bramble top scored with a patient 49 and got support from skipper Devon Clements (24) and Krishendat Ramoo 22.
Veerasammy Permaul took 3-29 while Gudakesh Motie (2-23), Narsingh Deonarine (2-32) and Devendra Bishoo (2-36) did the damage for Albion who started slowly with Kandasammy Surujnarine and Balchand Baldeo putting on 28 in 7.5 overs before Surujnarine (11) was removed by pacer Raun Johnson who soon got rid of Baldeo (10).
Foo joined forces with Deonarine and put together 61 in 20 overs before Deonarine was caught and bowled by Ramoo for 28. David Latchaya and Foo put together 62 for the fourth wicket before Foo departed off Ramoo but Albion completed the formalities as Latchaya remained unbeaten on 41.
Meanwhile, Berbice announced their team for the Inter County tournament which starts on Thursday with Berbice playing the Regional double Champions National Under-19 team, which has replaced the President’s XI for this year’s tournament. This game is set the Everest ground.
The Berbice team read: Narsingh Deonarine (Captain), Veerasammy Permau (Vice Captain), Kandasammy Surujnarine, Seon Hetmyer, Devon Clements, Jonathan Foo, Rajiv Ivan, Anthony Bramble, Jason Sinclair, Romario Shepherd, Gudakesh Motie, Krishendat Ramoo, Keon Joseph and Raun Johnson.
The Standbys: Rafael Estriado, Herman Latcha, Kevin Ramdeen, Shawn Perrier, Joemal LaFleur, Keyron Fraser and Suresh Dhanai. Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
