The third and final trial match by the Berbice Cricket Board (BCB) to select the Senior One-Day team for the upcoming Inter-county tournament concluded on Thursday with Narsingh Deonarine’s XI beating Veerasammy Permaul’s XI by six wickets.
Permaul’s XI won the toss and decided to take first strike and scored a disappointing 130 all out in 36 overs. Former National Under-19 middle-order batsman Seon Hetmyer continued his good run with 31 and was supported by Permaul with 29. Bowling for Deonarine’s XI, the skipper took 2-4, Krisendat Ramoo 2-17, and Raun Johnson 2-33.
In reply, Deonarine’s XI raced to 131-4 with Devon Clements remaining unbeaten on 46 and national middle-order batsman Rajiv Ivan making 38. Kandasammy Surujnarine and Rafael Estriado supported with 22 each. Permaul took 2-4 and pacer Keiron Fraser 2-30.
After the match, the BCB selectors shortlisted a Berbice Rest Team to challenge the winner of the Ramcharitar First Division final, in a feature 50-over game on Saturday at the Albion Ground from 09:00h.
The players are: Rafael Estriado, Shimron Hetmyer, Seon Hetmyer, Joemal LaFleur, Rajiv Ivan, Devon Clements, Romario Shepherd, Jason Sinclair, Shawn Perreira, Krisendat Ramoo, Raun Johnson, Keon Joseph, Suresh Dhanai, Keyron Fraser, Kevin Ramdeen, and Stephen Latcha.
Albion will be spearheaded by West Indies players Veerasammy Permaul, Sewnarine Chattergoon, Devendra Bishoo and Narsingh Deonarine, along with national players Gudakesh Motie, Jonathan Foo and others.
