In honor of the USACA nationals we present the American born test cricketers. We apologize for omissions and would be happy to include them.
Kenneth Hunnel Weekes
Ken Weekes as he was more commonly known also had the nickname "Bam Bam". He was born in Boston Massachusetts in 1912. He played for Jamaica and then went on to play two test matches for the West Indies on their tour of England in 1939. His career was no doubt curtailed by World War II as he had a hugely impressive tour, scoring a top score of 137.
The name Weekes may ring a bell as Kenneth was a cousin to famed cricketer Everton Weekes.
Jehan Mubarak
That is correct. Jehan Mubarak the Sri Lankan batsman was born in Washington D.C. The left handed Sri Lankan batsman has appeared in 10 test matches for the Sri Lankans. His record is not all that flattering though as he is yet to score a 50 with a top score of 48. His average is also an unimpressive 15.87.
It seems to be that there may be quite a few American born Test cricketers before there is the USA cricket team has Test match status. For now, it would be great to see the USA cricket team compete well on an associate level status.

Well I didn't know America had test cricketers. The game of cricket is still not very popular in North America. I hope some day the game will reach the American market in a big way so that the sport will even become more rewarding for players. Cricket will have a hard time competing with baseball though.
