With newly appointed director of the national side Ravi Shastri taking over the reins for the ODI series with England, the future of current coach Duncan Fletcher - as well as bowling coach Joe Dawes and fielding coach Trevor Penney, both of whom have been 'rested' for the series - looks all but sealed.
“Fletcher himself has to decide what his future will be," the official added.
"He is a professional and we are paying him a good amount, so it is natural to expect big results from him.
"We don’t doubt his cricketing knowledge but we need someone who can also communicate well with the boys and also motivate them to become mentally tougher.
"We have options when it comes to appointing new coaching staff.
"Enough feelers have been sent to Fletcher in the last meeting and the BCCI will be expecting him to resign after England tour."
Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.

That really is great news for the Indian team..He has been sitting there like a douche bag doing nothing at all.I am not blaming him but he should have made sure he was working for the money he got..
Reportedly he hasn't been an easily available person and its time for him to hang up his boots..

Well India has been poor in the test series in England but I don't think the coach could have done anything to prevent that. The game of cricket shouldn't really blame coaches for the failures of international teams. What does a cricket coach do or not do that can make a team win or lose a series?

I don't know if this would be helpful. Problem is at grass roots level. Prepare good tracks at home and send your players to play frequently in county cricket or such. The new crop of players being exposed in tougher conditions is totally unsurprising.

Although I guess it's not entirely a condition thing. Moeen got plenty of wickets in the series as well - which should raise some serious red flags about their performance here.
IDK if a new coach would help, but good luck to Indians on that.

Fletcher's popularity has been dwindling since the start of last year. It was only a matter of time before he was given the boot or asked to resign. His record since taking over from Gary Kirsten in 2011 has been very poor. Under his reign, India have lost 11 out of 13 overseas Tests and drawn the other two. They also lost at home to England for the first time in almost three decades. India's only Test success with Fletcher at the helm were home series victories over Australia and West Indies.

Some even thought it was a conspiracy plot to pit the Indian team down in those twin test series abroad..
They even lost to England at home..I have never seen him practicing with the guys as kirsten did..
sad that Kirsten had to go,he was a brilliant coach and we were unlucky to not get him the second term..
