Officials of the Limacol Caribbean Premier League CPL T20 tournament will respond to a complaint made by 2014 runners- up Guyana Amazon Warriors today.
The Management of the Guyana Amazon Warriors team made a decision to contest the outcome of the second CPL final on August 16 at Warner Park, St Kitts and Nevis.
The finals which was won by Barbados Tridents ended in controversy after rain intervened. The Tridents won the match by eight runs under the Duckworth/Lewis method and will now represent the Caribbean at the Champions League in India in September.
The Warriors had issued a statement yesterday in which they indicated that they were going to contest the decision by the umpires to call off the game. Manager of the Guyana Amazon Warriors Omar Khan speaking to T&T Guardian yesterday explained the current situation. “We took a decision at the management level to contest the decision of the officials.
We have articulated our view on the matter, they have made a ruling and we are not happy with that at the moment. We have written to CPL and have identified many areas where we think they went wrong and they have since responded to us, indicating that they will attend to our challenge. “The CPL wrote to us and said they are going to send our concerns to their technical committee and they would get back to us within 24 hours. We are keen to see what is the response.â€
Asked whether a rematch was likely Khan said : “We have stated our position, we have challenged the ruling and we are hopeful that the technical committee rule the match null and void. In this case a rematch would be the logical choice.
“However, if this is not done, all is not lost. We have highlighted a problem with the officials and the tournament is still young, so moving forward they can be better organised. We have to learn from our mistakes to improve and it is very interesting at the moment to see how the CPL deals with this situation.â€
The Guyana Amazon Warriors protested the conclusion of the match by refusing to attend the prize distribution ceremony which saw the Barbadian Tridents hoist the trophy in celebration. (VM)

Always tell someone how you feel because opportunities are lost in the blink of an eye but regret can last a lifetime.
