It seems that the former Indian captain Ravi Shastri has been appointed as the director to oversee the ODI against England, following India's disastrous Test series. It remains to be seen if Duncan Fletcher will quit or remain with the team as head coach, but it looks like he will remain for the moment. The BCCI is hoping the appointment of Ravi Shastri will re-energize the team and hopefully he will guide them to a better performance.

India would have performed better in the ODIs anyway so it seems silly to replace Fletcher wirh Ravi.
Perhaps we are no w seeing the impact on mental strength and expansion span of the IPL on the Indians.

I think Fletcher is happy with his stint. He would be happy that he is making good money

Why does BCCI insist on wasting every opportunity it gets to fix things? The right person to bring here would undoubtedly have been Saurav Ganguly or even Anil
Shastri is well past his time and he isn't apt for this job.

He s going to contribute to this Indian team for sure. Fletcher is gone for good. He should resign now as BCCI has made it clear that they will not stop Fletcher from resigning early.

Rahul Dravid is not a fan of this decision:
"You don't have problems if people want to make changes, it's part of professional sport. [But] there's still not a lot of clarity on whether this is a long term appointment or the changes we have seen are for this series, so there's a bit of confusion around that," Dravid said. "Sometimes from a players' perspective that can be quite hard. I hope that's something Ravi [Shastri] will handle quite well. All these players also build relationships with support staff and as players you do recognise that at some level you are actually responsible for your own success and failure."
Mid-tour changes 'tough on everyone'
Zee News
reported yesterday that Dravid himself is among one of the top contenders to replace Fletcher.
