Cook on the pitch: "I bowled three overs and got a wicket. I don't know what everyone's moaning about." He's had a good afternoon PR-wise.

Cook averaged 24.60 against the Aussies and has looked lost at the crease so far this summer. He hasn't shown any signs of coming to life. Over his last 13 tests he has a pitiful average of 24. Given the way Jimmy batted at Headingly last month and at Trent Bridge this week, I'd rather see him at the crease than Cookie.

He's having another slump, that's all. He's been nearly at the verge of getting kicked off the last time he was in one. And then played a really scratching innings and got back into the mix of things. He really needs that little spark soon.

How much longer do you think Cook gets? Obviously he will get the rest of the summer to prove himself against India but if his form doesn't return by the end of summer can England really go forward with Cook into 2015?
