Bangladesh ban Shakib Al Hasan for six months for 'attitude problem'

Bangladesh all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan has been banned for six months by the Bangladesh Cricket Board because of a "severe attitude problem".

The 27-year-old was punished for "serious misbehaviour" towards new coach Chandika Hathurusingha.


BCB president Nazmul Hassan said Shakib's attitude problem is "unprecedented in the history of Bangladesh cricket".

The suspension applies to international and domestic cricket.

Hassan added: "His behaviour is such that it's directly impacting the team.

"We want to give a clear message - if it is repeated, he might be banned for life.

"There will be no compromise when it comes to discipline."

The BCB board voted unanimously to ban Shakib, who has not been granted the No Objection Certificate which would allow him to compete in domestic competitions outside Bangladesh.

He will miss Bangladesh's tour of the West Indies starting next month, and will complete his ban shortly before the 2015 World Cup in Australia and New Zealand, which gets under way in February.

Last month he beat up a spectator after the latter reportedly used abusive language against his wife during a Bangladesh-India match.

God, what the f**k. Shakib WHYYY :( He's really got a terribly short temper. He really need to try and manage it. I think it's a tad too harsh, but then again IDK he's been a repeat offender. And bullshit if he gets banned for life. I don't think any disciplinary issues warrant that much repercussion.

Bangladesh is gonna miss him BIG time. I hope BCB realizes that.

It's seems like harsh but I think the punishment is deserved. Forgiving such misbehaviours will affect the team's morale and discipline. Anyway it's a brave decision by Bangladesh Board.

So whatever abusive language someone uses,we ought to shut up and hear it ah..? For me,what shakib did was perfect but a 1-2 match ban or maybe three would have been perfect,but 6 months is pretty harsh.

Chanderpaul suffered the injury while playing a shot in the nets on Tuesday.

SerenaThis batting performance by the West Indies in the second innings blew me away. I kept closing my eyes and then rubbing and opening them again and sat transfixed as I watch that unbelievable partnership between John Campbell and Shai Hope. What a magnificent performance by these two! It just goes to show that patience, determination and effort can go a long way to improve the performances of the West Indies team.
